How to Download and Use Your Define Digital Planner in GoodNotes 6

Getting started with your Define digital planner only takes a few steps.

Define digital planners are created and recommended for use with GoodNotes 6, but they can also be used with other compatible PDF annotation apps. This guide will walk you through how to download your planner, save it to your device, import it into GoodNotes, and start planning.

What You’ll Need

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Your Define digital planner purchase confirmation email

  • The device you plan to use for digital planning

  • GoodNotes 6 or another compatible PDF annotation app

  • Enough storage space on your device to download the planner PDF

Step 1: Open Your Download Email

After purchasing your digital planner, you’ll receive an email from Define letting you know your downloads are ready.

Open the email and select the Download Now button.

This will take you to the page where your digital planner file is available.

Step 2: Download Your Digital Planner

On the download page, locate your planner and select the button to download the PDF.

Depending on your device and browser, the file may download automatically or you may need to choose where to save it.

If You’re Using an iPad

After opening the planner file:

  1. Tap the Share icon in the top-right corner.

  2. Scroll through the available options.

  3. Select Save to Files.

  4. Choose where you would like to save the planner.

  5. Tap Save.

We recommend saving it in your Downloads folder or another folder you can easily find later.

Step 3: Import Your Planner Into GoodNotes 6

Once your planner is saved to your device, open GoodNotes 6.

From the main Documents screen:

  1. Tap + New.

  2. Select Import.

  3. Navigate to the folder where you saved your planner.

  4. Select your Define planner PDF.

  5. Tap Open.

GoodNotes will import the planner and add it to your documents.

Your planner is now ready to use.

Step 4: Start Planning

Once your planner is open in GoodNotes, you can begin adding your schedule, goals, notes, reminders, and other planning information.

You can use GoodNotes tools to:

  • Write directly on planner pages

  • Type text

  • Highlight important information

  • Add images and stickers

  • Copy and paste content

  • Erase or move your writing

  • Organize your planner alongside your other digital notebooks

How to Use the Hyperlinks in Your Digital Planner

Define digital planners include built-in hyperlinks to make it easier to move between different sections of your planner.

In GoodNotes, you may need to switch from editing mode to navigation mode before tapping a hyperlink.

When navigation mode is active, tap a linked tab, date, or planner section to jump directly to that page.

If tapping a link is writing or drawing on the page instead, check that you are using the appropriate navigation or read-only mode in your app.

Using Your Planner Across Devices

Your ability to use and sync your planner across multiple devices depends on the PDF annotation app, operating system, and cloud service you use.

For example, if you use GoodNotes and have syncing enabled, you may be able to access your planner on other supported devices connected to the same account.

Always check the syncing settings for the app you are using before relying on cross-device access.

What If You Don’t Use GoodNotes?

You do not have to use GoodNotes to use a Define digital planner.

Your planner may also work with other apps that support PDF annotation, including:

  • Notability

  • Nebo

  • OneNote

  • Noteshelf 2

  • Other compatible PDF readers and annotation apps

Features can vary between apps, so navigation, hyperlink behavior, syncing, and editing tools may work differently depending on the app you choose.

For the experience the planner was designed around, we recommend GoodNotes 6.

Tips Before You Get Started

A few simple steps can make digital planning easier:

  • Save the original planner file somewhere safe before you begin editing it.

  • Keep a backup copy in case you ever want to start fresh.

  • Make sure your annotation app is updated to the latest available version.

  • Test your hyperlinks before adding a large amount of content.

  • Give your planner a clear file name so it is easy to find later.

  • Check your app’s backup and syncing settings before using your planner across multiple devices.

Troubleshooting

I downloaded the planner but can’t find it.

Check your device’s Downloads folder or the Files app. If you selected a different folder when saving the planner, navigate to that location instead.

My planner opened in my browser instead of GoodNotes.

Save the PDF to your device first, then open GoodNotes and import the file manually.

The hyperlinks are not working.

Make sure you are using your app’s navigation or read-only mode rather than writing mode. Hyperlink behavior can vary depending on the app.

Can I import the planner again?

Yes. If you still have your original planner PDF, you can import another copy into your annotation app.

This can be helpful if you want to create a fresh version or keep an untouched backup.

Can I use the planner on more than one device?

That depends on the app you use and its syncing capabilities. Check your app’s account and cloud-sync settings to see which devices are supported.
